As expected, I lost my game to Dennis Hale, who basically held the advantage all the way to the near endgame where it's just losing and to play on would have been meaningless.
Despite putting numerous problems to Dennis, he was in no danger of ever losing. I made an error near time-control and got into a losing position on the 34th move and resigned one move later.
A great performance by Dennis.
I've also put my name in for the Grade matches that I mentioned in my earlier posts. So hopefully, I can garner more games under my belt.
It's near midnight now and I am exhausted and at the same time relieved, because I can now start to prepare for my exams next week.

I'm sorry that you lost the game. I hope you get a chance to closely examine it to see where things went awry. I don't know about you, but I am finding that there is usually one "critical moment" in a loss where I choose a poor move and my play goes downhill once I realize what I've done.

ReplyDeletethanks. i found that my 'critical moment' in the loss was the 2nd to last move before time control and i felt that i could have held onto a possible draw.
i put the thing in Fritz and Fritz found a rather nice variation right out of the opening which would have given me enough counterplay instead of being defensive for the rest of the game.
live and learn, i guess.
