Having A Bad Day? Try Me

With less than 24 hours to go, I am only 60% confident of my passing my exam tomorrow. The exam consists of about 60 questions and have to be done in 1.5 hours.

Did I forget to mention the passing grade is 80%?

In between my studies, I snuck in a couple of internet blitz games but got bored. The best game of the lot was a ferocious King's Indian Defense and for some reason, I couldn't find a way to finish off the attack and White busted me real good with the queenside pawn storm. I will have to look at that game once I have the time.

I've put on another 2 kilos and if this keeps going, I'll put in an entry to be the next contestant on the Biggest Loser (yes, we do have an Australian version of The Biggest Loser - see inset).

That's all for now. I'll be back once my theory exam is done tomorrow. *cross fingers*

  1. What kind of questions? If it's multiple choice, you may have some leeway. Especially if you have a professor that likes to make all the answers "B" just to see the students squirm. ("No way! He can't have made all the answers the same...")

  2. HI LEP,

It's all MCQ - the problem herein is that all the answers look very similar to one another and they really test you to see if you know your stuff, not just superfically but inside out. Some answers can only be found if you've done the lab sessions religiously and you realised,"Hey, that command is in the wrong mode." eg. there's a thin line between:

    a. S> interface fa0/0
    b. S# interface fa0/0
    c. S(config)# interface fa0/0
    d. S(config-if)# interface fa0/0

The best part is there are quite a few questions that goes like this:

1..... Blah blah. ... (choose two answers) and they give you 5 very similar answers.

If you choose one, you only get one mark if it's right. If you choose three, you get zero for that question even if one of them is correct. :)

The nice thing about all of this is that if I pass this hurdle, I have the same thing again 10 weeks later and 1 week after, the grand finale. Whoopee.

I sometimes ask myself why I go through all this trouble of going to night school all over again, considering I've already got an Honours deg, an Advanced Graduate Diploma, a couple of other industry certs (that I cannot even remember). I think I'm a mascochist at heart and love the pain.

Ok. I admit that I'm stressed. 6 hours more to the time of reckoning....
